Examining the Questions of the Reading Texts in the Textbooks of Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language

In this study, comprehension questions of reading texts in the New Istanbul Turkish for International Students teaching set were examined. In the study, which is a qualitative research, document analysis was carried out. The study objects of the research are the New Istanbul Turkish for International Students A1-A2-B1-B2-C1 level textbooks published in 2020. Within the scope of the research, 89 reading texts and 368 questions were determined. Identified questions were examined according to question types, answer sources, and Barrett Taxonomy. Content analysis, a type of qualitative data analysis, was used to analyze the questions in the categories determined in the research. According to the findings obtained in the research, the questions related to the reading texts in the textbooks; In terms of question type, it has been determined that the questions with short answers are the most frequently answered according to the answer source, and the questions at the level of basic understanding are used the most according to the Barrett Taxonomy. Based on the findings, it is not possible to say that there is a balance in the distribution of the questions. As the levels progressed, the questions of the literal comprehension level showed the opposite, significantly more than would be expected from the garments in the longevity and upperlevel average measurement stages.
