This research aimed to examine the effects of typographic elements in the Persian alphabet on visual design. It was observed that the existing academic literature on typography is largely constructed from a Latin-alphabet-centered perspective, and that non-Western writing systems such as Persian, Arabic, and Devanagari have not been sufficiently addressed within the field of visual communication design. Contributing to the closure of this gap was identified as the primary motivation of the study. The research systematically investigated the effects of Persian letterforms, typefaces, calligraphic styles, and typographic elements on visual perception, aesthetics, and meaning production. The study was conducted through a qualitative research approach employing visual analysis and descriptive document review methodology, supported by a comprehensive literature survey encompassing academic sources in Turkiş, Engliş, and Persian. In the findings and interpretation section, six original typographic designs constructed around the Anka/Simurg bird -one of the most deeply rooted mythological symbols in Iranian culture -were analyzed according to four systematic criteria: visual description and general silhouette, typographic structure and typeface analysis, examination of design elements and principles, and cultural symbolism and expressiveness. The analyses revealed that the fluid and multi-form structure of Persian letterforms provides highly suitable typographic material for constructing the Simurg figure; that the Nastaliq and Şikaste styles produce distinct levels of visual rhythm and expressiveness; that the black-and-white tonal contrast creates a dramatic visual impact that resonates with the symbolic material tradition of calligraphy; and that the tension between legibility and expressiveness is managed differently across each design. The study demonstrated that Persian typography functions not merely as a communicative tool but as a carrier of cultural identity and an autonomous element of visual language, and that the field of visual communication design requires enrichment through a genuinely multicultural perspective.
