Özet
The present study aims to explore and discuss the transformation of movie and TV series viewing experiences in the digital age. The study sought to address the following research questions: why are digital platforms preferred over traditional channels, and how do internet-based digital viewing platforms transform viewing habits? The study adopted a qualitative research model, conducting in-depth interviews with ten participants who expressed a preference for digital platforms over traditional ones. The data set obtained was subjected to content analysis. The analysis yielded several key reasons for the preference for digital platforms over traditional platforms, including independence from time and space, the presence of original storylines and non-cliched content, the absence of advertisements, and content diversity and personalised options. Furthermore, it was determined that viewing behaviours in the digital age encompass individual viewing, multi-screen viewing, binge viewing, genre-oriented selective viewing and content-driven viewing focused on new content.
