Appendectomy is one of the most frequently performed operations. Stump appendicitis, as a postoperative complication of appendectomy, is inflammation of the remnant residue when an incomplete excision occurs. We present a patient with stump appendicitis who had been operated on, laparoscopically, for acute appendicitis 6 months before. The patient was diagnosed with acute appendicitis, underwent surgery, and was discharged on postoperative day 3 without complications. Stump appendicitis is a rare cause of acute abdominal disease but should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Ultrasonography is helpful in the diagnosis.en_US
