First, let’s clarify what GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) means. Every living organism—whether a microbe, plant, animal, or human—contains codes within its cells. These codes are called genes. For example, our gender, skin color, eye color, and even susceptibility to certain diseases are determined by our genes. Similarly, traits like whether a pea is yellow or green, smooth or wrinkled, are encoded in its genes. These genetic traits are passed down from one generation to the next.
