Does religiosity matter in impulsive psychology buying behaviors? A mediating model and empirical application
(Springer, 2023) Habib, Muhammad Danish; Bekun, Festus Victor
The present study explores the connection between religiosity, beliefs, psychology, and impulsive buying patterns. This study draws strength from two theoretical models:y: Values Attitude and Behavior (VAB) and consistency theory. It was hypothesized that religiosity (intrinsic and extrinsic) predicts beliefs materialism, risk aversion and life satisfaction) that ultimately associated with impulsive buying tendencies. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to collect the data by utilizing the mall intercept approach. A total of 544 valid responses of consumers of apparel products were used to test the model. Data were analyzed through covariance-based structural equation modeling CB-SEM. Empirical findings supported a significant association of religiosity, materialism, risk aversion and life satisfaction. It was also found that beliefs turn into impulsive buying tendencies. Materialism, risk aversion, life satisfaction were found as significant mediators between religiosity and impulsive buying tendencies. The results revealed that the social meaning of religiousness and individual spiritual values enhance life satisfaction, risk aversion and condemn materialistic beliefs. It was found that customers satisfied with their life are less risk-takers and are less inclined towards impulsive tendencies. However, higher-level materialism leads to impulsive tendencies. The study findings offer significant implications of religious values, beliefs and behavioral outcomes for retailers of developing countries. The present study is one of the preliminary studies to examine religiosity, beliefs (materialism, risk aversion, life satisfaction) and impulsive buying tendencies by using VAB and the theory of consistency.

Technological Innovation, Productive Population, Sustainability and Income Growth in Selected Asian Countries
(WILEY, 111 RIVER ST, HOBOKEN 07030-5774, NJ, 2025) Ajmi, Ahdi Noomen; Bekun, Festus Victor; Onwe, Joshua Chukwuma; Habib, Muhammad Danish
Sustainable income growth in emerging nations requires productive populations to adopt and innovate technology to boost marginal productivity per worker. To this end, the present study examines how technological adoption, productive population and sustainability affect income growth in selected Asian economies between 1990 and 2022. Thus, to achieve the study objective, a panel analysis circumvents cross-sectional dependence with estimators such as Augmented Mean Group (AMG) heterogeneous panel regression. Similar robustness estimators like Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS), Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) and Driscoll–Kraay Standard Errors (DKSE) were employed. Key empirical findings include that, with all things being equal, productive population size decreases income growth by 5.6%. This means that productive activity considerably reduces Asian income growth. However, technical advancement boosts revenue. Technological innovation enhances Asian income growth by 1.1% when all model variables are constant. In contrast, using 1% sustainable energy to increase sustainability reduces the region's income growth by 2.9%. This means sustainable energy consumption in Asia reduces economic productivity and income per capita. Based on the study's findings, Asian countries should encourage technology innovation and skill development for productive populations. A productive workforce can build creative skills through ongoing training and manpower incubation via an innovation ecosystem. In the conclusion, more policy directions are appended.

Young Household Intentions to Prevent Food Waste: An Application of the Theory of Planned Behavior and Health Belief Model
(WILEY, 111 RIVER ST, HOBOKEN 07030-5774, NJ, 2025) Habib, Muhammad Danish; Ashraf, Nadia; Bekun, Festus Victor; Aliyev, Anar
Food waste is a contemporary global issue that obstructs the achievement of many sustainable development goals (SDGs). Despite exponential growth in research related to food waste, there is not enough evidence in developing countries to guide policymakers in creating effective strategies. This research seeks to address the existing research gaps in understanding food waste prevention behavior by utilizing well-known theoretical lenses: the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and the health belief model (HBM). The current study examines food waste prevention intentions of Pakistani households. Data was collected from 607 young households through the convenience sampling technique. The study results validated the propositions of TPB and HBM. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical knowledge related to food conservation by uncovering food waste prevention behavior. The study results are useful for practitioners and policymakers.
