In this study, it was aimed to contribute to the related literature by examining the relationship between obsessive-compulsive symptom severity and self-disgust. In this context, the relationship between dependent variable (obsessive-compulsive symptom severity) and independent variables (self-disgust and socio-demographic variables) was examined in the study. For this purpose, the study was carried out with the survey method included in the relational model. The data obtained from the study were collected from 200 individuals between the ages of 18-55 living within the borders of Ankara Province. In order to determine the self-disgust levels of the individuals participating in the study, the Turkish version of the 'Self Disgust Scale Revised Form-ÖTORF' was used by Bektaş, Çiçek, and İnözü (2019). In order to determine the obsessive-compulsive symptom levels of the participants, the 'Padua Obsessive-Compulsive Symptom Inventory-Washington State University Revision (PEWEUR)' made by Yorulmaz et al. (2007) was used. The data collected within the scope of the study were analyzed and interpreted with the statistical program for social sciences (SPSS). According to the findings obtained within the scope of the research, it was determined that self-disgust was associated with the severity of obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and there was a linear low-power significant relationship between self-disgust and the severity of obsessive-compulsive symptoms. At the same time, according to the regression analysis, it was found that self-disgust and its sub-dimensions explained OCD at a rate of 36.9%, and OCD as independent variables, and its sub-dimensions explained self-disgust at a rate of 35.1%. As a result, as the level of self-disgust increases, the severity of obsessive-compulsive symptoms also increases. It is supported by studies that individuals with obsessive compulsive disorder may have feelings of disgust directed at them under their apparent compulsions. Therefore, it can be suggested that clinicians working with obsessive compulsive individuals should conduct studies on self-disgust.
