Özet
Will Türkiye Achieve 2023 Tourism Targets? Türkiye made a significant breakthrough in tourism in 2022, reaching 51 million tourists and 46.2 billion dollars in tourism revenues. Based on these developments, in 2023, Turkish tourism had set a target of 60 million tourists and 56 billion dollars in revenues for 2023, continuing its success in 2022. In fact, the number of foreign tourists visiting Türkiye in the first six months of 2023 increased by 17.5% compared to the same period in 2022, with a total of 22 million 945 thousand 170 visitors to Türkiye. However, even though tourism figures show an increase compared to the same period of the previous year, the occupancy rates of tourism facilities have started to decline as of July, which is expected to be the peak period of tourism in our country. In this picture, it seems difficult for Türkiye to achieve its 2023 tourism targets. Of course, there are different reasons behind the lower than expected occupancy rates during the peak season.
