Head of the Department of Television Journalism and Programming Assoc. Prof. Uğur Baloğlu Completed his TÜBİTAK 2219-Supported Research! Faculty of Applied Sciences, Department of Television Journalism and Programming faculty member Assoc. Prof. Uğur Baloğlu won the TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Scholarship with his research on Turkish TV series in the USA and successfully completed his study. Our university's faculty members continue to leave their mark in the scientific world with their original and qualified academic studies. These valuable projects both contribute to global science and increase the international reputation of our university. Assoc. Prof. Baloğlu's project titled "Transnational Media and Countercultural Flow: A Comparative Study on Turkish TV Series in the US in the Context of Immigrant Integration and Cultural Encounters" aims to develop an innovative and original academic approach in the field of communication and cultural studies by presenting important scientific findings in its field. Assoc. Prof. Uğur Baloğlu conducted studies at Purdue University, School of Communication and Creative Arts in the United States between January 2023 and June 2024 within the scope of the research scholarship he won. The research was conducted using the audience ethnography method in the states of New York, Indiana and California. This study examined the impact of Turkish TV series on US audiences and the processes of immigrant integration. Assoc. Prof. Baloğlu's research makes significant contributions to the scientific vision of our university. The study examines the rising popularity of Turkish TV series in the US and its impact on intercultural communication, revealing valuable findings from both academic and social perspectives. We congratulate Assoc. Prof. Uğur Baloğlu and wish him continued success in his academic studies.
