Abstract

ABOUT THE REPORT With more than half of the world's population currently residing in urban areas and this proportion projected to reach 60% by 2030, cities are playing an increasingly significant role in achieving sustainable development. As major drivers of global economic growth, cities also face substantial challenges, including energy and resource consumption, carbon emissions, inadequate infrastructure, environmental pollution, and unplanned urbanization. These challenges have made the development of sustainable, inclusive, safe, and resilient cities a fundamental priority at the global level.
