The Importance of Thin and Thick-Rimmed Lenses in the Optical Industry The optician industry is directly related to the design, production, and application of lenses used to correct visual impairments and protect eye health. The lenses used in this field are generally divided into two main groups: thin-sided (convex) and thick-sided (concave). Both types of lenses play a critical role in solving different vision problems and are therefore of great importance in the optical industry. Convex lenses collect light at the center thanks to their convex structure and are used in the treatment of hyperopia (clear vision at a distance and blurry vision up close). Individuals suffering from hyperopia can see nearby objects more clearly thanks to convex lenses. These lenses are also frequently preferred in glasses and contact lenses. Correct use of convex lenses improves individuals' daily life quality and ensures their visual comfort [1, 2].
