| dc.description.abstract | CURRENT APPROACHES IN BODY COMPOSITION ANALYSIS EVENT HELD The event titled “Current Approaches in Body Composition Analysis” , organized through the collaboration of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Nutrition and Dietetics Club of Istanbul Gelisim University, was held on June 1, 2026, with strong participation from students. The guest speaker of the event was Dietitian Zeynep KEKEÇ, who works at InBody. The event focused on the importance of body composition analysis in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics, highlighting current assessment methods and their practical applications. During her presentation, Dietitian Zeynep KEKEÇ emphasized that body composition analysis goes beyond simply measuring body weight. She explained that parameters such as fat mass, fat-free mass, skeletal muscle mass, body water distribution, and segmental analyses provide valuable information for evaluating an individual's health status. She also shared examples of how body composition analysis can be used in different age groups and clinical settings. As part of the event, KEKEÇ introduced the operating principles of InBody devices and explained the fundamental features of the bioelectrical impedance analysis method. She provided detailed information on how body composition reports should be interpreted and how these data can be utilized in nutrition planning and professional practice. Following the presentation, students had the opportunity to ask questions about body composition analysis and benefit from practical insights and professional experiences. The event enabled participants to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with current applications while contributing to their professional development.
