Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Öfke İfade Tarzı ve İlişkili Faktörler

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Sağlık Bilimleri Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin öfke ifade tarzını ve ilişkili faktörleri belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırmanın evrenini, İstanbul’da bulunan bir vakıf üniversitesinin Sağlık Bilimleri Yüksekokulu’nun tüm bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 1.116 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada örneklem seçimine gidilmeksizin çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 408 öğrenci çalışma kapsamına alınmıştır. Çalışmanın verilerini toplamak için, Öğrenci Bilgi Formu ve Durumluluk ve Süreklilik Öfke Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) Version 16.0 programı kullanılmış olup tanımlayıcı istatistiksel parametrelerin (aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, minimum, maksimum ve frekanslar) yanı sıra, Student t-testi Spearman korelasyon testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin sürekli öfke düzeyi puan ortalaması 20,55±4,97; kontrol altına alınmış öfke alt boyutunun puan ortalaması 20,88±4,52; dışa vurulmuş öfke alt boyutunun puan ortalaması 14,44±3,17; içe vurulmuş öfke alt boyut puan ortalaması ise 15,07±3,87 bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin bireysel özellikleri ile Durumluluk ve Süreklilik Öfke Ölçeği alt boyut puan ortalamaları karşılaştırıldığında; cinsiyet, aile yapısı, sigara kullanımı, alkol kullanımı, arkadaş ilişkileri ve anneyi tanımlama ile Durumluluk ve Süreklilik Öfke Ölçeği alt boyut puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Tartışma ve Sonuç: Öfke, her yaşta görülebilen önemli duygusal tepkilerden biridir. Bu nedenle, eğitim sürecinde bu tarz sorunların saptanması ve gerekli desteğin sağlanması öğrencinin bireysel ve mesleki gelişimleri için oldukça önemlidir.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine how the College of Health Sciences students express their anger and the related factors that affect it. Materials and Methods: The population of the study comprises all of the students of a private College of Health Sciences in Istanbul (N=1116). Students (n=408) who agreed to participate in the study were included in the study, without sample selection. A “Student Information Form” and the “Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale” were used to collect the data. To evaluate the data, SPSS Version 16.0 was used, in addition to the descriptive statistical parameters (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, and frequencies) and to Student’s t-test, Spearman’s correlation test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: The students’ mean trait-anger score was found as 20.55 ± 4.97, mean anger-control subscale score 20.88 ± 4.52, mean anger-out subscale score 14.44 ± 3.17, and mean anger-in subscale score 15.07 ± 3.87. When the mean Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale subscale scores were assessed with the students’ characteristics, no statistically significant relation was found between the mean Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale subscale scores and characteristics such as gender, family structure, smoking, alcohol use, relationships with friends and mother description. Discussion and Conclusion: Expressed anger is one of the important emotional reactions that can be given at any age. Thus the detection of problems associated with anger expression and the provision of appropriate support during a student’s educational life is quite important for the student’s personal and professional development.
