Abstract

The conference titled "Past and Present of theMontessori Education System" was held under themoderation of Lect. Buse Kerigan , Department ofChild Development, Faculty of Health Sciences,Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU). The conference,in which President of the International MontessoriSchools Education Association Lect. Selçuk AydınBülbül was the speaker, was held online. Selçuk Aydın Bülbül said that the researches onearly childhood programs and their practicescontributed to the emergence of different models inpre-school education. It is child-centered, givingimportance to the prepared environment that makesthe child independent in his own environment,providing the child with learning opportunities bydoing and experiencing, giving importance to familyparticipation, providing individual education andgiving importance to cultural elements. The importance of learning by doing wasemphasized at the conference, in which DeputyDean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Asst. Prof.A. Yüksel Barut , Head of Child DevelopmentDepartment Asst. Prof. Nurten Elkin and Prof. Dr.Nefise Semra Erkan attended.
