They have scaled organizational commitment as affective, continuance and normative com- mitment. In social psychology, ‘social loafing’ is defined as the phenomenon of people exerting less effort to achieve a goal when they work in a group than when they work alone, resulting in lower motivation levels and reduction in tendency to exert efforts.This study aims to highlight the importance of the concept of or- ganizational commitment at the level of institutions of higher education, by establishing the its influence on social loafing, in light of the existing scholarly articles.
