Prof. Dr. Gorsev Sonmez, Head of the English Translation and Interpreting Department of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, with Prof. Dr. Ebru Hasibe Tanju Aslışena, titled “Using Storigami as an Instructional Technique: Preschool Teachers’ Perceptions”, was published in the international journal Theory and Practice in Child Development. The workshop event organized by the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture within the scope of the 100th anniversary events of our Republic was held under the title “Atatürk’s Architect: Seyfi Arkan”. Within the scope of the workshop, a trip was first organized to Florya Atatürk Marine Mansion, one of Seyfi Arkan’s important buildings, on Thursday, December 14th. The trip, attended by workshop facilitators Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlke Ciritci, Asst. Prof. Dr. Semih Goksel Yıldırım and Asst. Prof. Dr. Aytek Alkaya, started with the presentation of art historian and archaeologist Baran Bucak to the students in the meeting hall. Then, a contextual reading and technical examination of the building was made. The second part of the workshop took place in Firnas Hall with the participation of Deputy Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Cansu Noberi and architecture department students and faculty members. Asst. Prof. Dr. Meryem M. Findikgil from the Department of Architecture explained the architectural environment, architectural education and building features in the years parallel to the establishment of the republic, through the life and architecture of Seyfi Arkan. Res. Asst. Fatma Betul Yilmaz, from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, presented her paper titled “Predictive Role of Distress Tolerance on Mental Well-being Following the Turkey Earthquake” at the Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Modern Approaches in Humanities and Social Sciences. Asst. Prof. Dr. Tugba Kantarci, from the Department of Economics and Finance, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, presented her paper titled “Green Logistics Applications for Sustainable Development” at the International Recycling Economy and Sustainability Policy Congress. Lect. Esra Obut’s exhibition titled “Nature Themed Sustainable Fashion Products”, organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts and curated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gunay, opened at Gelisim Art Gallery on December 13, 2023. Gelisim Art Gallery hosted a unique combination of fashion and nature and brought together art lovers with an impressive exhibition. Lect. Esra Obut shared the following thoughts about her works: “Recycling of ready-made clothing industry waste is important both economically and ecologically. Prof. Dr. Reyhan Ozes Ozgur, one of the faculty members of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, titled “Harmony of the Agricultural Sector and the Environment within the Framework of the European Green Deal: A Comparative Analysis for Turkey and European Union Countries in the Light of Input-Output and Current Situation-Pressure-Response Models”, TUBITAK won 3501. The new book of Asst. Prof. Dr. Raheb Mohammadı Ghanbarlou from the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, titled “Construction Processes of National Identity in the Contemporary Republic of Azerbaijan” has been published. The second Masters event organized by the Radio, Television and Cinema Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts was hosted by writer and director Bulent Saglam. At the event moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Dogan, Saglam answered the questions posed by Emre Doğan. Explaining with examples how students can practice writing, Saglam stated that everyone who produces should be open to criticism and that the way to be capable of interpreting criticism well is to be a good reader. Saglam, who also answered the students’ questions, shared the poem he wrote with the students at the end of the activity. “Short and ...”, one of the event series organized by the Radio, Television and Cinema Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts, was this time held under the title of Short and Creative. At the event moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Dogan, Head of Radio, Television and Cinema Department, director Efe Subası told the story of his short film Distances. Explaining the difficulties they experienced both during pre-production and on set and how they produced creative solutions to these difficulties, Efe Subasi emphasized that the creative aspect of cinema emerges precisely when difficulties are encountered. Prof. Dr. Serdar Egeli and Faculty of Fine Arts Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department faculty member Res. Asst. Emel Cirisoglu, has been published. The first edition of the book “Turkey’s Street Foods”, edited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ozgur Kızıldemir, was published and took its place on the shelves. There are a total of seventeen authors in the book published in November. In this book, which consists of 12 chapters in total, street delicacies and their historical development are discussed, and these delicacies are examined in terms of gastronomy tourism. The book includes the “Beverages” section, jointly written by Gastronomy Departments Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Egeli and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Res. Asst. Emel Cirişoğlu. The article titled “The Relationship Between Economic Growth, Exports and International Direct Investments: An Empirical Research on Turkey” by Lect. Atilla Aydin and Asst. Prof. Dr. Duygu Celik, academicians of Istanbul Gelisim Vocational School, was published in Antalya Bilim University International Journal of Social Sciences. The second step of the social responsibility project “Happiness with Çorbada Tuzun Olsun Association”, carried out by the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Communication and Design, Graphic Design departments of the Faculty of Fine Arts, was announced by Çorbada Tuzun Olsun Association, Chairman of the Board Mehmet Evren Tufekci, on December 13, 2023. IGU TTO participated with 4 projects into the Başakşehir Living Lab Innovation Competition, which was held at the Başakşehir Living Lab Innovation Center. The goal of the competition is to support and encourage secondary school, high school, college, undergraduate, graduate, and teacher/academician entrepreneurs who generate innovative projects.
