George Eliot and Margaret Atwood - In this National Novel Writing Month, let's take a look at some facts in two novelists lives who were both born in November. George Eliot, November 22,1819-1880 ; Margaret Atwood, November 18,1939 – George Eliot is her pen name that she took from her partner, literature critic George Henry Lewes. Her real name is Mary Anne Evans: “The place Eliot looks back on is usually the Warwickshire coutryside. There, under her real name, Marian Evans, she spent her childhood at Arbury Farm (The Norton Anthology, English Literature).
