Abstract

The 2nd Workshop on Sustainability in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language in the Twenty-First Century “The 2nd Workshop on Sustainability in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language in the Twenty-First Century” was organized by Istanbul Gelişim University, Turkish and Foreign Language Application and Research Center. After Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Güzel made protocol speeches at the workshop. In the workshop consisting of two sessions, 8 commissions and 8 topics were discussed. It was established to teach Turkish to foreign students coming from abroad to study in higher education institutions, to organize courses in foreign languages, and to work on necessary documentation and materials. After the first workshop held in 2022 by the Turkish and Foreign Language Application and Research Center, the "2nd Workshop on Sustainability in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language in the Twenty-First Century" was held on June 15, 2023. The workshop, which included 64 participants from 25 different universities from Turkey, consisted of two sessions, and was based on 8 commissions and 8 topics. In the workshop, problems encountered in teaching Turkish as a foreign language under various headings and solutions were discussed. In the workshop, the problems encountered in institutions where Turkish is taught as a foreign language and solutions were discussed. The problems encountered in the use of approaches, methods, techniques and solutions were discussed. Problems encountered in preparing and using materials and solutions were discussed. The problems encountered in teaching the basic language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and solutions were discussed. Problems encountered in grammar teaching and solution suggestions were discussed. It is aimed to make general evaluations from the workshop outputs and to report them and present them to the relevant authorities.
