Experimental Investigation of Velocity and Turbulence Variations in Inclined Jet in Cross-Flow
Koç, İbrahim
In this study, the changes of velocity and turbulence for an inclined jet in cross-flow are
investigated experimentally. Cylindrical and rectangular hole geometries are used in the
experiments. The blowing ratio is 1.75, and the injection angle with respect to the horizontal
plane is 30o
. The injection holes in the models are in a single row. The diameters of holes,
which have a cylindrical cross section, are 8.5 mm. The rectangular cross section holes are 9
x 6.5 mm. The injection holes are inclined at 30o
along the mainstream direction. The air is
injected at 57 oC and its blowing ratio is 1.75. The results show that turbulence intensity
changes with hole geometry. In this study, turbulence intensity is higher in the region close to
the wall because of the jet impact. The penetrations of the cylindrical jets into the main flow
are deeper than the penetrations of the rectangular jets, and turbulence intensities of the
cylindrical jets are larger than the penetrations of the rectangular jets.

Human capital and manufacturing activities under environmentally-driven urbanization in the MENA region
Bajja, Salwa; Radoine, Hassan; Çelik, Ali; Dakyaga, Francis; Damrah, Sadeq
Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region possesses immense capacity for
renewable energy generation. Despite the potential, most countries in the region
are yet to fully embrace renewable energy. Non-renewable sources still dominate
their energy mix. This study examines the interplay between urbanization,
renewable and non-renewable energy consumption, and environmental quality
in the six Middle Eastern and North African countries from 1990 to 2021, using the
mean group (MG), the mean group dynamic least squares (DOLSMG), the
common correlated effect (CCE), augmented mean group (AMG) and the
cross-section augmented ARDL (CS–ARDL). Accounting for urbanization, and
economic growth, the findings of DOLSMG indicate that while renewable energy
and manufacturing activities significantly contribute to environmental quality,
urbanization and human capital development significantly contributes to
environmental degradation. The CS-ARDL short-term and long run estimation
result showed that manufacturing activities significantly contribute to
environmental quality, When examined by country, it was found that there is a
unidirectional causal relationship from economic growth, manufacturing value
added, urbanization, human capital development to dioxide emissions in Saudi
Arabia. While there is a unidirectional causality from manufacturing value added to
dioxide emissions in Jordan, and a unidirectional causality from urbanization to
dioxide emissions in Tunisia.

Covid-19 Pandemisinin İşletmelerdeki Pazarlama Stratejileri ve Tüketici Trendleri Üzerindeki Etkileri
Tiftik, Canan
izlemeleri gereken çeşitli yaklaşımlar ele alınmaktadır.; Businesses have never found managing crises and surviving in times of crisis to be simple. Unlike earlier crises,
however, the Covid-19 pandemic struck without warning, hitting nearly all industries and businesses and
upending both daily life and the economic world. What strategic initiatives should be done during and after this
crisis, as well as what to do in the future with the lessons learnt from this crisis, is one of the most pressing
concerns facing the business community. Businesses that were able to successfully adjust to the changing
environment during the pandemic and understand the shifting consumer expectations and needs will have a greater chance of earning a competitive edge if they employ the appropriate methods. This research aims to
examine the crisis produced by Covid-19 in terms of macroeconomics in businesses in light of recent sector
reports, to eliminate the crises and to explain what has been done / what should be done to compete effectively
in the new market conditions referred to as the new normal. In this direction, the marketing strategies and tactics
provided by many researchers and strategists for businesses, as well as the newly significant consumer trends,
are investigated, and numerous concerns and approaches that businesses should consider are discussed.

Cooking with ChatGPT and Bard: A Study on Competencies of AI Tools on Recipe Correction, Adaption, Time Management and Presentation
Değerli, Ahmet Hakan; Tatlısu, Nevruz Berna
With its potential use in many areas including food and beverage sector, artificial intelligence has
become one of the most prominent topics recently, partly due to the new AI tools. This study
evaluates the competencies of ChatGPT (versions 3.5 and 4) and Bard in relation to food recipes
by assigning tasks in five different areas: recipe correction, recipe adaptation, recipe detailing,
time management, and presentation. The responses were then analyzed. It was observed that
ChatGPT 4 outperformed the other tools in recipe correction, time management and presentation
tasks while it gave similar results with ChatGPT 3.5 in recipe adaptation and recipe detailing tasks.
Bard performed better than ChatGPT 3.5 in recipe correction but performed worse than both tools
in all other tasks. Subsequent discussions highlighted the strengths and limitations of the tools.
While these tools’ scores may not yet outperform a professional chef in the assigned tasks, they
can be alternative and supportive assets in the gastronomy field considering their rapid response
rates. Along with the potential use of the tools in tasks such as adapting recipes, managing time,
and generating presentation ideas, the ongoing development and interaction of AI tools and related
technologies could contribute significantly to the food industry in the future.
